Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for treating a lignocellulosic biomass pretreated beforehand (1), said process comprising the extraction of the free sugars from said pretreated biomass using an alcoholic or aqueous-alcoholic extraction solution (2), so as to obtain a liquid phase enriched in free sugars, called liquor (3), and a solid phase depleted in free sugars, called must (4).
Claims23
A process for treating a lignocellulosic biomass comprising:
- pretreating the biomass by impregnation with an acidic, basic, or oxidizing aqueous solution, and then subjecting the biomass to steam explosion, to form a pretreated biomass in the form of a solid/liquid mixture, and
- extracting free sugars from said pretreated biomass by contacting the pretreated biomass in the form of a solid/liquid mixture with an aqueous-alcoholic extraction solution having an alcohol content of between 15% and 70% by weight, and then subjecting the mixture of pretreated biomass and extraction solution to solid/liquid separation so as to obtain a liquid phase enriched in free sugars, called liquor, and a solid phase depleted in free sugars, called must, wherein extraction is carried out at a temperature of less than or equal to 80° C. and the liquor comprises xylose.
A process for treating a lignocellulosic biomass, said process comprising the following successive steps:
- impregnating the biomass with an acidic, basic, or oxidizing aqueous solution to obtain an impregnated biomass,
- pretreating the impregnated biomass by steam explosion to obtain a pretreated biomass in the form of a solid/liquid mixture,
- subjecting the pretreated biomass to enzymatic hydrolysis to obtain a hydrolyzed biomass, and
- optionally, subjecting the hydrolyzed biomass to alcoholic fermentation,
- wherein an extraction of free sugars from at least a part of pretreated biomass is carried out before subjecting the pretreated biomass to enzymatic hydrolysis, wherein the extraction of the free sugars comprises contacting said pretreated biomass in the form of a solid/liquid mixture with an aqueous-alcoholic extraction solution having an alcohol content of between 15% and 70% by weight at a temperature of less than or equal to 80° C., wherein with the aqueous-alcoholic extraction solution, followed by a solid/liquid separation.
