Abstract
The present invention relates to a method of forming an image on a substrate comprising a transparent or translucent composition applied thereto, wherein the transparent or translucent composition comprises a protein in a non-denatured state, and the method comprises applying radiation to the transparent or translucent composition to denature the protein and thereby form an image on the substrate. The invention also relates to a method of preparing a substrate on which an image can be formed, and related substrates, compositions and uses thereof.
Claims11
A transparent or translucent composition comprising:
- a) a protein in a non-denatured state, wherein the protein can be denatured upon application of radiation to the transparent or translucent composition, and the protein is zein;
- b) an aqueous medium or a solvent;
- and
- c) a crosslinker,
- wherein the composition further comprises an NIR absorber selected from the group consisting of:
- inorganic copper salts;
- reduced indium tin oxide;
- reduced zinc oxide;
- reduced tungsten oxide;
- reduced doped tungsten oxide including an inorganic compound of the following formula MxWyOz where M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of H, He, alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, rare earth metal, rare earth element, Mg, Zr, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ir, Ni, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, Al, Ga, In, TI, Si, Ge, Sn, Pb, Sb, B, F, P, S, Se, Br, Te, Ti, Nb, V, Mo, Ta, Re, Be, Hf, Os, Bi and I, W is tungsten, O is oxygen, satisfying 0.001≤x/y≤1;
