Positioning of terminal devices

A method for an apparatus comprising at least two antenna arrays, the method comprising:

• measuring, per an antenna array, downlink reference signals received from transmission-reception points;
• checking, per a transmission-reception point, based on measurement results, whether a downlink reference signal from the transmission-reception point is received in a serving antenna array and in one or more non-serving antenna arrays with a delay;
• determining, per a non-serving antenna array included in the one or more non-serving antenna arrays that received the downlink reference signal with the delay, the non-serving antenna array to be an alternative antenna array to the serving antenna array;
• selecting, when the serving antenna array is under a maximum permissible exposure event, based on at least power levels of antenna arrays, which one of one or more non-serving antenna arrays and the serving antenna array is to be used for transmitting at least a positioning signal to the transmission-reception point;
• and
• transmitting at least the positioning signal to the transmission-reception point using the selected antenna array.

A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising program instructions for causing an apparatus to perform at least the following:

• measuring, per an antenna array, downlink reference signals received from transmission-reception points;
• checking, per a transmission-reception point, based on measurement results, whether a downlink reference signal from the transmission-reception point is received in a serving antenna array and in one or more non-serving antenna arrays with a delay;
• determining, per a non-serving antenna array included in the one or more non-serving antenna arrays that received the downlink reference signal with the delay, the non-serving antenna array to be an alternative antenna array to the serving antenna array;
• selecting, when the serving antenna array is under a maximum permissible exposure event, based on at least power levels of antenna arrays, which one of one or more non-serving antenna arrays and the serving antenna array is to be used for transmitting at least a positioning signal to the transmission-reception point;
• and
• transmitting at least the positioning signal to the transmission-reception point using the selected antenna array.

A system comprising:

• a plurality of transmission-reception points configured to transmit different reference signals to and measure positioning signals from apparatuses;
• and
• at least one apparatus comprising at least two antenna arrays and configured to:
• measure, per an antenna array, downlink reference signals received from transmission-reception points of the plurality of transmission-reception points;
• check, per a transmission-reception point, based on measurement results, whether a downlink reference signal from the transmission-reception point is received in a serving antenna array and in one or more non-serving antenna arrays with a delay;
• determine, per a non-serving antenna array included in the one or more non-serving antenna arrays that received the downlink reference signal with the delay, the non-serving antenna array to be an alternative antenna array to the serving antenna array;
• select, when the serving antenna array is under a maximum permissible exposure event, based on at least power levels of antenna arrays, which one of one or more non-serving antenna arrays and the serving antenna array is to be used for transmitting at least a positioning signal to the transmission-reception point;
• and transmit at least the positioning signal to the transmission-reception point using the selected antenna array.
