Enhanced sounding reference signaling for beam management

A method comprising:

• receiving, from a user equipment (UE), capability information to indicate a first number of sounding reference signal (SRS) processes supported by the UE and a second number of SRS instances supported per SRS process for beam management;
• generating, based on the capability information, configuration information to configure the UE with up to the first number of SRS processes and up to the second number of SRS instances per SRS process;
• and
• outputting the configuration information for transmission to the UE.

One or more non-transitory, computer-readable media having instructions that, when executed, cause processing circuitry to:

• generate, for transmission to a base station, sounding reference signal (SRS) capability information, the SRS capability information to indicate a first number of SRS processes that are supported and a second number of SRS instances supported per SRS process for beam management;
• receive, from the base station, configuration information to configure up to the first number of SRS processes and up to the second number of SRS instances per SRS process;
• and
• generate an SRS based on the configuration information.

A method comprising:

• generating, for transmission to a base station, sounding reference signal (SRS) capability information, the SRS capability information to indicate a first number of SRS processes that are supported and a second number of SRS instances supported per SRS process for beam management;
• receiving, from the base station, configuration information to configure up to the first number of SRS processes and up to the second number of SRS instances per SRS process;
• and
• generating an SRS based on the configuration information.
