Effect display based on text recognition and room scaling within an augmented reality environment

An apparatus comprising:

• control circuitry;
• and
• at least one memory including computer program code for one or more programs, the at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the control circuitry, cause the apparatus to perform at least the following:
• detect a message received from a device;
• detect that a portion of the message corresponds to an augmented reality object;
• determine at least one display format of a plurality of display formats for the augmented reality object, wherein:
• a first display format of the plurality of display formats corresponds to a first environment characteristic;
• a second display format of the plurality of display formats corresponds to a second environment characteristic;
• and
• the first display format is different than the second display format;
• detect a first trait of a space around the apparatus;
• select the first display format based, at least in part, on the first trait matching the first environment characteristic;
• and
• in response to selecting the first display format, display the augmented reality object in an augmented reality view in a first format.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium having instructions encoded thereon that, when executed by control circuitry, cause the control circuitry to:

• detect a message received from a device;
• detect that a portion of the message corresponds to an augmented reality object;
• determine at least one display format of a plurality of display formats for the augmented reality object, wherein:
• a first display format of the plurality of display formats corresponds to a first environment characteristic;
• a second display format of the plurality of display formats corresponds to a second environment characteristic;
• and
• the first display format is different than the second display format;
• detect a first trait of a space around the control circuitry;
• select the first display format based, at least in part, on the first trait matching the first environment characteristic;
• and
• in response to selecting the first display format, display the augmented reality object in an augmented reality view in a first format.
