Smart microservice testing based on centrality prioritization

A system comprising:

• a processor;
• a data bus coupled to the processor;
• a data center asset client module;
• and,
• a non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium embodying computer program code, the non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium being coupled to the data bus, the computer program code interacting with a plurality of computer operations and comprising instructions executable by the processor and configured for:
• identifying a plurality of process flows executing on a data center asset contained within a data center, each of the plurality of process flows having a trace identifier and a corresponding weighted priority;
• identifying a plurality of microservices associated with each of the plurality of process flows, each of the plurality of microservices comprising an independent service providing a particular functionality for an associated process flow, each of the plurality of microservices communicating with other microservices via an application program interface;
• mapping each of the plurality of microservices associated with each of the plurality of process flows;
• calculating a centrality value for each of the plurality of microservices associated with each of the plurality of process flows based upon the mapping, the centrality value for each of the plurality of microservices providing a ranking of an associated microservice relative to other microservices of the plurality of microservices;
• and,
• testing at least some of the plurality of microservices based upon the centrality value for each of the plurality of microservices, the testing based upon the centrality value providing priority-based testing of the at least some of the plurality of microservices.

A non-transitory, computer-readable storage medium embodying computer program code, the computer program code comprising computer executable instructions configured for:

• identifying a plurality of process flows executing on a data center asset contained within a data center, each of the plurality of process flows having a trace identifier and a corresponding weighted priority;
• identifying a plurality of microservices associated with each of the plurality of process flows, each of the plurality of microservices comprising an independent service providing a particular functionality for an associated process flow, each of the plurality of microservices communicating with other microservices via an application program interface;
• mapping each of the plurality of microservices associated with each of the plurality of process flows;
• calculating a centrality value for each of the plurality of microservices associated with each of the plurality of process flows based upon the mapping, the centrality value for each of the plurality of microservices providing a ranking of an associated microservice relative to other microservices of the plurality of microservices;
• and,
• testing at least some of the plurality of microservices based upon the centrality value for each of the plurality of microservices, the testing based upon the centrality value providing priority-based testing of the at least some of the plurality of microservices.
