Pairing devices to prevent digital content misuse

A client-side digital content delivery device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the client-side digital content delivery device to perform operations including, at least:
• detecting, by a client-side digital content delivery device, that a client-side computing device has been unpaired from an authorized viewing device that is separate from the client-side digital content delivery device, wherein the client-side computing device has been paired to the authorized viewing device, via a communication interface between the client-side computing device and the authorized viewing device to cause digital content received from a remote server to be presented on the authorized viewing device;
• and
• in response to detecting that the client-side computing device has been unpaired from the authorized viewing device, executing a remedial action;
• wherein the communication interface is configured to receive a unique identifier associated with the authorized viewing device.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by one or more computer processors of a client-side digital content delivery device, cause the client-side digital content delivery device to perform operations comprising, at least:

• detecting, by a client-side digital content delivery device, that a client-side computing device has been unpaired from an authorized viewing device that is separate from the client-side digital content delivery device, wherein the client-side computing device has been paired to the authorized viewing device, via a communication interface between the client-side computing device and the authorized viewing device to cause digital content received from a remote server to be presented on the authorized viewing device;
• and
• in response to detecting that the client-side computing device has been unpaired from the authorized viewing device, executing a remedial action;
• wherein the communication interface is configured to receive a unique identifier associated with the authorized viewing device.
