Communication device ready state assistance

An electronic device, comprising:

• a processor to:
• receive a communication associated with a first mode of communication;
• determine whether to change from the first mode of communication to a second mode of communication using a natural language processor;
• identify a device associated with the second mode of communication, wherein the device is an accessory paired with the electronic device;
• determine that the device associated with the second mode of communication is in a ready state based on a proximity to a user, a volume level, a mute/unmute status associated with the second mode of communication, or a combination thereof;
• and
• automatically prompting a change to the second mode of communication.

A non-transitory computer readable medium having program instructions that when executed cause a hardware processor of an electronic device to:

• determine whether to change from a first mode of communication to a second mode of communication using a natural language processor;
• in response to determining whether to change from the first mode of communication to the second mode of communication, identify a communication device associated with the second mode of communication, wherein the communication device is an accessory paired with the electronic device;
• determine that the communication device associated with the second mode of communication is not in a ready state based on a connection status, a signal strength, a battery power state of the communication device associated with the second mode of communication, or a combination thereof;
• and
• assist the communication device associated with the second mode of communication to be in the ready state.
