Playlist programming

A system comprising:

• a processor configured to:
• determine that a virtual music room is accessible to a first user and a second user, wherein media items of a playlist are provided to a plurality of users, including the first user and the second user;
• determine that at least the second user of the virtual music room has rights to a media item to be added to the playlist for the virtual music room;
• add the media item to the playlist for the virtual music room at a second position distinct from a requested first position when the first user does not have rights to the media item;
• and
• provide the media item to the plurality of users of the virtual music room including the first user and the second user when a playback of the playlist reaches the media item, when the first user does not have rights to the media item and when it is determined that at least the second user of the plurality of users has rights to the media item.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable media storing instructions executable by one or more processors that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform acts comprising:

• determining that a virtual music room is accessible to a first user and a second user, wherein media items of a playlist are provided to a plurality of users of the virtual music room, including the first user and the second user;
• determining that at least the second user of the virtual music room has rights to a media item to be added to the playlist for the virtual music room;
• adding the media item to the playlist for the virtual music room at a second position distinct from a requested first position when the first user does not have rights to the media item;
• and
• providing the media item to the plurality of users of the virtual music room including the first user and the second user when a playback of the playlist reaches the media item, when the first user does not have rights to the media item and when it is determined that at least the second user of the plurality of users has rights to the media item.
