Systems and methods to reduce problem gaming

A non-transitory computer-readable medium, wherein the non-transitory computer-readable medium is provisioned with program instructions that, when executed by at least one processor, cause a computing device to:

• obtain financial data corresponding to a user;
• based on at least the obtained financial data corresponding to the user, determine an initial risk score for the user that represents an estimate of financial risk of the user;
• receive, from a computing system associated with a gaming platform, wagering activity data corresponding to wagers placed by the user via the gaming platform;
• based on at least the received wagering activity data, determine an updated risk score for the user that indicates an increased estimate of financial risk;
• and
• based on determining the updated risk score, transmit one or more messages that collectively (i) cause the computing system associated with the gaming platform to temporarily suspend wagering activity by the user via the gaming platform and (ii) cause a user device associated with the user to display (a) a notification that wagering activity has been temporarily suspended and (b) a request for user-input data to resume wagering activity.

A method carried out by a computing device, the method comprising:

• obtaining financial data corresponding to a user;
• based on at least the obtained financial data corresponding to the user, determining an initial risk score for the user that represents an estimate of financial risk of the user;
• receiving, from a computing system associated with a gaming platform, wagering activity data corresponding to wagers placed by the user via the gaming platform;
• based on at least the received wagering activity data, determining an updated risk score for the user that indicates an increased estimate of financial risk;
• and
• based on determining the updated risk score, transmitting one or more messages that collectively (i) cause the computing system associated with the gaming platform to temporarily suspend wagering activity by the user via the gaming platform and (ii) cause a user device associated with the user to display (a) a notification that wagering activity has been temporarily suspended and (b) a request for user-input data to resume wagering activity.
