Abstract
In some embodiments, an electronic device dynamically assigns functionalities to one or more buttons depending on an orientation associated with the device.
Claims75
A method comprising:
- at an electronic device having one or more buttons:
- detecting an indication of selection of a first button of the one or more buttons;
- and
- in response to detecting the indication of the selection of the first button:
- in accordance with a determination that the selection of the first button satisfies one or more criteria, performing a first operation in accordance with the selection of the first button independent of whether an orientation associated with the electronic device with respect to a reference is a first orientation or a second orientation;
- in accordance with a determination that the selection of the first button does not satisfy the one or more criteria and that the orientation associated with the electronic device with respect to the reference is the first orientation, performing a second operation, different from the first operation, in accordance with the selection of the first button;
- and
- in accordance with a determination that the selection of the first button does not satisfy the one or more criteria and that the orientation associated with the electronic device with respect to the reference is the second orientation, performing a third operation, different from the first operation and the second operation, in accordance with the selection of the first button.

- one or more processors;
- memory;
- and
- one or more programs, wherein the one or more programs are stored in the memory and configured to be executed by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for:
- detecting an indication of selection of a first button of one or more buttons of the electronic device;
- and
- in response to detecting the indication of the selection of the first button:
- in accordance with a determination that the selection of the first button satisfies one or more criteria, performing a first operation in accordance with the selection of the first button independent of whether an orientation associated with the electronic device with respect to a reference is a first orientation or a second orientation;
- in accordance with a determination that the selection of the first button does not satisfy the one or more criteria and that the orientation associated with the electronic device with respect to the reference is the first orientation, performing a second operation, different from the first operation, in accordance with the selection of the first button;
- and
- in accordance with a determination that the selection of the first button does not satisfy the one or more criteria and that the orientation associated with the electronic device with respect to the reference is the second orientation, performing a third operation, different from the first operation and the second operation, in accordance with the selection of the first button.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs, the one or more programs comprising instructions, which when executed by one or more processors of an electronic device, cause the electronic device to perform a method comprising:
- detecting an indication of selection of a first button of one or more buttons of the electronic device;

- in accordance with a determination that the selection of the first button does not satisfy the one or more criteria and that the orientation associated with the electronic device with respect to the reference is the second orientation, performing a third operation, different from the first operation and the second operation, in accordance with the selection of the first button.
