Systems and methods for restoring bus functionality

A controller device comprising:

• a timer;
• a reset component;
• and
• an automatic bus recovery block configured to:
• detect that at least one target device on a bus pulls at least one line of the bus to a low level;
• initiate the timer to time a duration of the low level of the at least one line;
• detect that the duration of the low level of the at least one line exceeds a predetermined time limit;
• alert the reset component to reset the at least one line of the bus to a high level based on detecting that the duration of the low level exceeds the predetermined time limit;
• and
• adjust the predetermined time limit in response to the duration of the low level exceeding the predetermined time limit.

A system comprising:

• at least one bus;
• at least one controller device connected to the at least one bus;
• at least one target device connected to the at least one bus;
• and
• at least one automatic bus recovery block connected to the at least one bus and configured to:
• detect that the at least one target device pulls at least one line of the at least one bus to a low level;
• initiate a timer to time a duration of the low level of the at least one line;
• detect that the duration of the low level of the at least one line exceeds a predetermined time limit;
• alert the at least one controller device to reset the at least one line of the at least one bus to a high level based on detecting that the duration of the low level exceeds the predetermined time limit;
• and
• adjust the predetermined time limit in response to the duration of the low level exceeding the predetermined time limit.
