A method of treating a microbial infection in a patient comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a 2-(5-(3-fluorophenyl)-4-phenyl-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-ylthio)acetic acid compound having the formula I:
