A method of delivering autophagy stimulating therapeutics to a patient in need thereof comprising the step of administering a pharmaceutically acceptable composition consisting of trehalose or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and/or carrier.
