Controlling inserton of content into broadcast payload

A method comprising:

• receiving a request to insert media content into a broadcast payload at a first processing device including a processor and associated memory, wherein the request is transmitted by a second device;
• determining whether the second device is permitted to provide the media content for insertion into the broadcast payload;
• in response to determining that the second device is permitted:
• logging in the second device;
• receiving the media content from the second device;
• and
• inserting the media content into the broadcast payload.

An importer-exporter comprising:

• a processor;
• a network interface coupled to the processor and configured to communicate with a plurality of external devices via a communications network;
• and
• memory coupled to the processor, the memory storing a program of instructions, wherein executing the program of instructions configures the processor to control insertion of channel packets and EAS packets into a broadcast payload based on login statuses of the plurality of external devices.
