Abstract
Methods and systems are described for a media guidance application that manages media subscriptions between a user and a content provider. In particular, the media guidance application may automatically identify subscription terms that are beneficial for both a user and for a content provider.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- identifying, using control circuitry, a first media asset relevant to a user profile;
- identifying, based on a database listing availability of media assets, a content provider that is scheduled to make the first media asset available at a future date, wherein the first media asset is unavailable from the content provider at a present time;
- identifying a start of a subscription period for the content provider, wherein the subscription period includes the future date;
- determining that a gap day exists between the start of the subscription period and the future date;
- identifying, using the control circuitry, a second media asset relevant to the user profile and available from the content provider during the gap day;
- and
- causing display, at a device associated with the user profile, of one or more user interface reminders to acquire a subscription to the content provider, wherein the one or more user interface reminders indicate the first media asset and the second media asset.
4 more elements
A non-transitory computer readable medium comprising instructions that when executed by control circuitry cause the control circuitry to:
- identify a first media asset relevant to a user profile;
- identify, based on a database listing availability of media assets, a content provider that is scheduled to make the first media asset available at a future date, wherein the first media asset is unavailable from the content provider at a present time;
- identify a start of a subscription period for the content provider, wherein the subscription period includes the future date;
- determine that a gap day exists between the start of the subscription period and the future date;
- identify, using the control circuitry, a second media asset relevant to the user profile and available from the content provider during the gap day;
- and
- cause display, at a device associated with the user profile, of one or more user interface reminders to acquire a subscription to the content provider on the end date, wherein the one or more user interface reminders indicate the first media asset and the second media asset.
4 more elements
A system comprising:
- processing circuitry configured to:
- identify a first media asset relevant to a user profile;
- identify, based on a database listing availability of media assets, a content provider that is scheduled to make the first media asset available at a future date, wherein the first media asset is unavailable from the content provider at a present time;
- identify a start of a subscription period for the content provider, wherein the subscription period includes the future date;
- determine that a gap day exists between the start of the subscription period and the future date;
- identify, using the control circuitry, a second media asset relevant to the user profile and available from the content provider during the gap day;
- and
- interface circuitry causing display, at a device associated with the user profile, of one or more user interface reminders to acquire a subscription to the content provider, wherein the one or more user interface reminders indicate the first media asset and the second media asset.
