Methods and printing system for peer-to-peer printing device management

A method for managing a printing system, the method comprising:

• accessing the printing system by a first printing device;
• identifying a second printing device within the printing system by the first printing device;
• querying the second printing device by the first printing device for information regarding at least one software program on the second printing device;
• determining a difference between the at least one software program on the second printing device and at least one software program on the first printing device;
• upgrading the at least one software program on the first printing device to match the at least one software program on the second printing device;
• comparing at least one configuration setting at the first printing device with at least one configuration setting at the second printing device, wherein a configuration of the at least one configuration setting relates to a printing operation;
• and
• automatically matching the configuration setting related to the printing operation at the first printing device to the configuration setting related to the printing operation at the second printing device.
