Allocating different tasks to a plurality of presence sensor systems

A method of performing presence detection with a first sensor system and a second sensor system, said second sensor system being of a different type than said first sensor system, comprising:

• receiving sensor signals from said first sensor system and said second sensor system;
• determining which first one or more areas of a plurality of areas are in both said sensor range of said first sensor system and said sensor range of said second sensor system based on said sensor signals;
• and
• controlling, responsive to determining the first one or more areas of a plurality of areas are in both said sensor range of said first sensor system and said sensor range of said second sensor system, said second sensor system to perform, with respect to said first one or more areas, a second task other than a first task to be performed by said first sensor system, said first task comprising obtaining sensor data to be used for presence detection in said first one or more areas.

A controller for performing presence detection with a first sensor system and a second sensor system, said second sensor system being of a different type than said first sensor system, said controller comprising:

• at least one input interface;
• at least one output interface;
• and
• at least one processor configured to:
• use said at least one input interface to receive sensor signals from said first sensor system and said second sensor system,
• determine which first one or more areas of a plurality of areas are in both said sensor range of said first sensor system and said sensor range of said second sensor system based on said sensor signals, use said at least one output interface to control said second sensor system to perform, with respect to said first one or more areas, a second task other than a first task to be performed by said first sensor system, said first task comprising obtaining sensor data to be used for presence detection in said first one or more areas, and
• determine which second one or more areas of said plurality of areas are in said sensor range of said second sensor system and not in said sensor range of said first sensor system based on said sensor signals.
