Battery cell with an integrated control circuit

A battery cell, comprising:

• a first terminal contact;
• a second terminal contact;
• an energy storage unit;
• a first transistor;
• a sensor system configured to acquire a state parameter of the battery cell;
• and
• a control circuit;
• and
• a second transistor connected between the first terminal contact and the second terminal contact, parallel to the energy storage unit;
• wherein the control circuit is configured to control a switching process of the second transistor,
• wherein the second transistor is a thin-film MOSFET transistor,
• wherein the control circuit is configured to switch both the first transistor and the second transistor into a conductive state simultaneously, and
• wherein:
• a first pole of the energy storage unit is coupled to the first terminal contact, and a second pole of the energy storage unit is coupled to the second terminal contact,
• the first transistor is connected between the first terminal contact and the second terminal contact in series with the energy storage unit, and
• the control circuit is configured to control a switching process of the first transistor based on the acquired state parameter to control a charge current or a discharge current of the energy storage unit,
• wherein the first transistor and the second transistor are situated on an external surface of the energy storage unit.
