Method for reconstituting a reagent

A method for reconstituting a reagent comprising:

• (a) receiving one or more reagent packs into a reagent pack input carousel configured to hold a plurality of reagent packs, wherein each reagent pack of the one or more reagent packs includes one or more wells and at least one well of the one or more wells contains a lyophilized reagent;
• (b) with a rotary distributor, transferring one reagent pack of the one or more reagent packs from the reagent pack input carousel to a reagent pack station of a reagent pack storage carousel;
• (c) retrieving the one reagent pack from the reagent pack station of the reagent pack storage carousel with the rotary distributor;
• (d) placing the one reagent pack retrieved in step (c) into a reagent pack loading station;
• and
• (e) after step (d), reconstituting at least one lyophilized reagent in the one reagent pack by dispensing a reconstitution reagent into the at least one well of the one reagent pack that contains the lyophilized reagent with an automated pipettor to form a reconstituted reagent.
