Extensible method for organizational mapping via cloud resource consumption

A system for maintaining an organizational hierarchy comprising

• one or more computing devices to implement:
• a metrics aggregator module for receiving data indicative of computing resource consumption by one or more of a plurality of leaf nodes, wherein the leaf nodes are part of a hierarchy comprising the leaf nodes and a plurality of higher level nodes;
• and
• a hierarchy rules module for generating one or more modifications for the hierarchy based on the data indicative of computing resource consumption.
