Silicon-based energy storage devices with carboxylic ether, carboxylic acid based salt, or acrylate electrolyte containing electrolyte additives

An energy storage device comprising:

• a first electrode and a second electrode, wherein at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode is a Si-based electrode;
• a separator between the first electrode and the second electrode;
• an electrolyte;
• and
• at least one electrolyte additive comprising a compound of Formula (E)
• wherein:
• R4 and R5 are each independently C2-C5 alkenyl optionally substituted by alkyl;
• Z is selected from the group consisting of C1-C12 alkylene substituted by alkyl, —F, —OH, or hydroxyl-alkyl, cycloalkylene,
• R is independently C1-C3 alkylene optionally substituted by alkyl, —F, —OH, or hydroxyl-alkyl;
• and
• n is an integer selected from 1-5.
