Multi-link device security association query

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that stores instructions for execution by one or more processors configured to operate as a non-access point (non-AP) multi-link device (MLD), the instructions when executed configure the one or more processors to:

• generate, by a station (STA) affiliated with the non-AP MLD, a security association (SA) query request, the SA query request having a peerSTAAddress set to a medium access control (MAC) address of an AP MLD, the non-AP MLD being associated with the AP MLD;
• transmit the SA query request to an affiliated STA of the AP MLD on a corresponding link between the STA and the affiliated STA;
• and
• receive, at the STA in response to transmission of the SA query request, a SA query response from the affiliated STA of the AP MLD, the SA query response having a peerSTAAddress set to a MAC address of the non-AP MLD,
• wherein the SA query response is received under conditions that include:
• dot11RSNAOperatingChannelValidationActivated is true;
• the AP MLD indicated Operating Channel Validation Capable (OCVC) capability in association with the non-AP MLD;
• an overloaded code-division multiple access interconnect (OCI) element is not present in the SA query request;
• and
• operating channel information of a link indicated in the SA query request does not match current channel information of the link indicated in the SA query request.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium that stores instructions for execution by one or more processors configured to operate as an access point (AP) multi-link device (MLD), the instructions when executed configure the one or more processors to:

• receive, at an affiliated STA of the AP MLD, a security association (SA) query request, the SA query request having a peerSTAAddress set to a medium access control (MAC) address of the AP MLD, the SA query request received from a station (STA) affiliated with a non-AP MLD associated with the AP MLD on a corresponding link between the STA and the affiliated STA;
• generate, at the STA in response to transmission of the SA query request, a SA query response to the STA of the non-AP MLD, the SA query response having a peerSTAAddress set to a MAC address of the non-AP MLD;
• and
• transmit the SA query response to the non-AP MLD on the corresponding link between the STA and the affiliated STA,
• wherein the SA query response is transmitted under conditions that include:
• dot11RSNAOperatingChannelValidationActivated is true;
• the AP MLD indicated Operating Channel Validation Capable (OCVC) capability in association with the non-AP MLD;
• an overloaded code-division multiple access interconnect (OCI) element is not present in the SA query request;
• and
• operating channel information of a link indicated in the SA query request does not match current channel information of the link indicated in the SA query request.
