Abstract
An approach for encoding/decoding video data including obtaining video data; parsing the obtained video data to obtain partitioning parameters; obtaining a partitioned coding block based on the partitioning parameters; and decoding the obtained video data based on the partitioned coding block. The partitioned coding block may be partitioned into a rectangular partition and at least one non-rectangular partition.
Claims19
A method of video encoding using at least one processor, the method comprising:
- obtaining a coding block corresponding to an input video;
- determining partitioning parameters for the coding block;
- performing a first partitioning of the coding block based on the partitioning parameters such that the coding block is partitioned into a fir rectangular partition and an L-shaped partition, wherein the first rectangular partition has a same aspect ratio as the coding block, and wherein a first side of the L-shaped partition has a length equal to a height of the partitioned coding block, and a second side of the L-shaped partition has a length equal to a width of the partitioned coding block;
- after performing the first partitioning, partitioning the L-shaped partition into a plurality of second rectangular partitions, wherein the plurality of second rectangular partitions includes partitions having different aspect ratios;
- and
- encoding the input video based on the first rectangular partition and the plurality of second rectangular partitions.
A device for video encoding, the device comprising:
- at least one memory configured to store program code;
- and
- at least one processor configured to read the program code and operate as instructed by the program code, the program code including:
- obtaining code configured to cause the at least one processor to obtain a coding block corresponding to an input video;
- determining code configured to cause the at least one processor to determine partitioning parameters for the coding block;
- first partitioning code configured to cause the at least one processor to perform a first partition of the coding block based on the partitioning parameters such that the coding block is partitioned into a first rectangular partition and an L-shaped partition, wherein the first rectangular partition has a same aspect ratio as the coding block, and wherein a first side of the L-shaped partition has a length equal to a height of the partitioned coding block, and a second side of the L-shaped partition has a length equal to a width of the partitioned coding block;
- second partitioning code configured to cause the at least one processor to perform a second partition of the L-shaped partition such that the L-shaped partition is partitioned into a plurality of second rectangular partitions having different aspect ratios;
- and
- encoding code configured to cause the at least one processor to encode the input video based on the first rectangular partition and the plurality of second rectangular partitions.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions, the instructions comprising:
- one or more instructions that, when executed by one or more processors of a device for video encoding, cause the one or more processors to:
- obtain a coding block corresponding to an input video;
- determine partitioning parameters for the coding block;
- performing a first partition of the coding block based on the partitioning parameters such that the coding block is partitioned into a first rectangular partition and an L-shaped partition, wherein the first rectangular partition has a same aspect ratio as the coding block, and wherein a first side of the L-shaped partition has a length equal to a height of the partitioned coding block, and a second side of the L-shaped partition has a length equal to a width of the partitioned coding block;
- performing a second partitioning of the L-shaped partition such that the L-shaped partition is partitioned into a plurality of second rectangular partitions having different aspect ratios;
- and
- encode the input video based on the first rectangular partition and the plurality of second rectangular partitions.
