Method and apparatus for performing sounding reference signal transmission in RRC_INACTIVE for positioning in mobile wireless communication system

A method by a terminal, the method comprising:

• transmitting, by the terminal to a base station, a UECapabilityInformation, the UECapabilityInformation includes one or more first capability information related to Sounding Reference Signal (SRS), at most one first capability information can be included per feature set;
• transmitting, by the terminal to a Location Management Function (LMF), a provideCapabilities, the provideCapabilities includes one or more second capability information related to support of SRS in RRC_INACTIVE, at most one second capability information can be included per frequency band;
• receiving, by the terminal from the base station, a RRCRelease, the RRCRelease includes a first information and a second information and optionally a fourth information, the first information includes configuration of Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) in RRC_INACTIVE and the second information includes information related to Bandwidth Part (BWP) and the fourth information includes information related to supplementary uplink;
• transmitting, by the terminal in a first cell to the base station based on the first information and the second information and the fourth information, a positioning SRS in RRC_INACTIVE;
• and
• stopping, by the terminal in the first cell, the positioning SRS when a paging message including a third information is received,
• wherein the third information includes a first terminal identifier,
• wherein the positioning SRS is transmitted in a normal uplink when the fourth information is not included in the RRCRelease.
