Display device

A display device comprising:

• a display panel configured to display an image;
• a panel driver configured to drive the display panel;
• and
• a driving controller configured to control driving of the panel driver,
• wherein the driving controller is configured to:
• receive image data during at least ‘k’ frames where ‘k’ is an integer greater than or equal to 2;
• and
• extract first image data, which is maintained to have a grayscale that is less than or equal to a reference grayscale during at least the ‘k’ frames, and second image data, which has a grayscale higher than the reference grayscale or which is not maintained to have a grayscale that is less than or equal to the reference grayscale during the at least ‘k’ frames, from the image data based on a predetermined reference grayscale, and
• wherein the driving controller compensates the first image data in a first compensation method and compensates the second image data in a second compensation method different from the first compensation method.

A display device comprising:

• a display panel configured to display an image;
• a panel driver configured to drive the display panel;
• and
• a driving controller configured to control driving of the panel driver,
• wherein the driving controller is configured to:
• compensate first image data corresponding to a first area of the display panel during at least a predetermined time period, using a fixed scale factor independent of a load of the display panel to generate first compensation image data for the first area;
• and
• compensate second image data corresponding to a second area of the display panel using the load to generate second compensation image data for the second area.
