Systems and methods for intelligently accessing media content based on rights

A system for accessing content available from an alternative content source based on digital rights management (DRM) restriction using a graphical user interface, the system comprising:

• control circuitry configured to:
• receive a request to access a first content item from a first content source;
• determine a first DRM score for the first content item from the first content source;
• identify at least one or more alternative copies of the first content item from at least one second content source;
• determine DRM scores for each of the one or more alternative copies of the first content item;
• arrange a list of the one or more alternative copies of the first content item in accordance with the determined DRM scores;
• and display the list of the one or more alternative copies of the first content item;
• wherein the DRM scores are determined based on DRM attribute scores corresponding to DRM attributes associated with each of the one or more alternative copies of the first content item.

A non-transitory machine-readable medium comprising non-transitory machine-readable instructions encoded thereon for accessing content available from an alternative content source based on digital rights management (DRM) restriction using a graphical user interface, the instructions comprising:

• instructions for receiving a request to access a first content item from a first content source;
• instructions for determining a first DRM score for the first content item from the first content source;
• instructions for identifying at least one or more alternative copies of the first content item from at least one second content source;
• instructions for determining DRM scores for each of the one or more alternative copies of the first content item;
• instructions for arranging a list of the one or more alternative copies of the first content item in accordance with the determined DRM scores;
• and instructions for displaying the list of the one or more alternative copies of the first content item;
• wherein the DRM scores are determined based on DRM attribute scores corresponding to DRM attributes associated with each of the one or more alternative copies of the first content item.
