Link monitoring in new radio

A wireless device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the wireless device to:
• select, based on a first group of search space sets for monitoring control resource sets (coresets) and a second group of search space sets for monitoring the coresets, reference signals, associated with and based on monitoring periodicities of the first group of search space sets, for link monitoring in both of a first mode and a second mode, wherein:
• in the first mode, the first group of search space sets is monitored and the second group of search space sets is unmonitored;
• and
• in the second mode, the first group of search space sets is unmonitored and the second group of search space sets is monitored;
• and
• measure, both in the first mode and the second mode, the reference signals for the link monitoring.
