System and method for transmitting information

A system, comprising:

• a first unit comprising a transducer configured as a sensor, an electrical power source, at least one data-processing system and a first transceiver unit for electromagnetic radiation;
• and
• a second unit that is releasably connectable to the first unit and void of an electrical power source, the second unit comprising a second transceiver unit for electromagnetic radiation and a feedback device that is configured to emit at least one of a visual and an acoustic alert signal to a user,
• wherein the first transceiver unit and the second transceiver unit are configured to be wirelessly connected, via an electromagnetic coupling in the near field, such that power is transmitted from the first unit to the second unit, and signals or data are transmitted between the first unit and the second unit,
• wherein the second unit is configured as a calibration device to facilitate calibration of the sensor such that the sensor is in contact with a calibration medium contained within the second unit when the second unit is releasably connected with the first unit, and the feedback device of the second unit emits a visual and/or an acoustic alert signal to a user, related to a calibration operation performed the first unit, based on the signals or data transmitted between the first unit and the second unit, and
• wherein the second unit comprises a calibration cuvette containing the calibration medium.
