Smart gateway devices, systems and methods for providing communication between HVAC system networks

A method for providing virtual devices on a first network associated with a building management system (BMS), the method comprising:

• discovering a physical device;
• generating a new virtual device by a building automation and control network device responsive to a determination that a device identifier of the physical device does not match any device identifiers in a virtual device registry, the virtual device registry providing mapping between the new virtual device and the physical device, one or more data points of the new virtual device corresponding to one or more data points of the physical device;
• receiving data values for the one or more data points of the physical device using a remote device;
• and
• updating using the remote device the one or more data points of the new virtual device with the data values for the one or more data points of the physical device, the virtual device configured to represent the physical device on the first network.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media having instructions stored thereon that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:

• receiving a new virtual device associated with a physical device on a first network associated with a building management system (BMS);
• using a virtual device registry to provide mapping between the new virtual device and the physical device, one or more data points of the new virtual device corresponding to one or more data points of the physical device;
• receiving data values for the one or more data points of the physical device;
• and
• updating the one or more data points of the new virtual device with the data values for the one or more data points of the physical device, the virtual device configured to represent the physical device on the first network.
