Visual effect design using multiple preview windows

A method, comprising:

• creating a first window comprising a first copy of a first scene in response to receiving first user input, wherein the first scene comprises a representation of a three dimensional (3D) space, wherein the first scene is associated with a first project, and wherein the first copy of the first scene comprises a first version of a first visual effect applied to the first scene;
• creating a second window comprising a second copy of the first scene in response to receiving second user input, wherein the second copy of the first scene comprises a second version of the first visual effect applied to the first scene, wherein the first window and the second window are presented concurrently, and wherein the first window and the second window are configured to enable testing and comparison of the different versions of the first visual effect in the same first scene at an approximately same time;
• modifying, via the first window, the first copy of the same first scene in the first window based on a first change to at least one attribute of the first version of the first visual effect in the first copy of the same first scene;
• and
• modifying, via the second window, the second copy of the same first scene in the second window based on a second change to at least one attribute of the second version of the first visual effect in the second copy of the same first scene, wherein the first change is different from the second change;
• storing the modified first copy of the first scene to a first configuration file in the at least one memory, wherein the first configuration file is associated with the first window;
• and
• storing the modified second copy of the first scene to a second configuration file in the at least one memory, wherein the second configuration file is associated with the second window.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, storing computer-readable instructions that upon execution by a processor cause the processor to implement operations, the operation comprising:

• creating a first window comprising a first copy of a first scene in response to receiving first user input, wherein the first scene comprises a representation of a three dimensional (3D) space, wherein the first scene is associated with a first project, and wherein the first copy of the first scene comprises a first version of a first visual effect applied to the first scene;
• creating a second window comprising a second copy of the first scene in response to receiving second user input, wherein the second copy of the first scene comprises a second version of the first visual effect applied to the first scene, wherein the first window and the second window are presented concurrently, and wherein the first window and the second window are configured to enable testing and comparison of the different versions of the first visual effect in the same first scene at an approximately same time;
• modifying, via the first window, the first copy of the same first scene in the first window based on a first change to at least one attribute of the first version of the first visual effect in the first copy of the same first scene;
• and
• modifying, via the second window, the second copy of the same first scene in the second window based on a second change to at least one attribute of the second version of the first visual effect in the second copy of the same first scene, wherein the first change is different from the second change;
• storing the modified first copy of the first scene to a first configuration file in the at least one memory, wherein the first configuration file is associated with the first window;
• and
• storing the modified second copy of the first scene to a second configuration file in the at least one memory, wherein the second configuration file is associated with the second window.
