Distributed processing system

An edge computing system, comprising:

• a server of a cloud computing system configured to connect to an external network and having a plurality of packaged applications, the cloud computing system configured to receive data and execute an information processing function using the data;
• and
• a plurality of building network devices each configured to perform a monitoring or control function for a physical state or condition of a building and to connect to a wireless mesh network, the wireless mesh network connected to the external network, the plurality of building network devices comprising one or more processors and memory connected to the one or more processors, the memory having instructions stored thereon, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to:
• receive, from the server, a first packaged application of the plurality of packaged applications, the first packaged application associated with the information processing function, the information processing function comprising an operation performed on data generated by at least one of the plurality of building network devices to generate a result used to perform the control function for the physical state or condition of the building;
• when the wireless mesh network is connected to the cloud computing system, send data to the cloud computing system for execution of the information processing function using the data by the cloud computing system;
• and
• when the wireless mesh network is disconnected from the cloud computing system, execute the first packaged application to provide the information processing function of the cloud computing system using the plurality of building network devices;
• wherein each building network device of the plurality of building network devices is a constrained computing device.

A system, comprising:

• a server of a cloud computing system configured to connect to an external network and having a plurality of packaged applications associated with one or more functions of the cloud computing system, the cloud computing system configured to receive data and execute an information processing function using the data, wherein the plurality of packaged applications are microservices having no external dependencies;
• and
• a plurality of building network devices each configured to perform monitoring or control functions for a physical state or condition of a building and to form a wireless mesh network, the wireless mesh network connected to the external network, the plurality of building network devices comprising a package engine, one or more processors, and memory connected to the one or more processors, the memory having instructions stored thereon, that when executed by the one or more processors, cause the package engine to:
• receive, from the server, a first packaged application of the plurality of packaged applications, the first packaged application associated with the information processing function of the cloud computing system, the information processing function comprising an operation performed on data generated by at least one of the plurality of building network devices to generate a result used to perform the control functions for the physical state or condition of the building;
• when the wireless mesh network is connected to the cloud computing system, send data to the cloud computing system for execution of the information processing function using the data by the cloud computing system;
• and
• when the wireless mesh network is disconnected from the cloud computing system, execute the first packaged application to provide the information processing function of the cloud computing system using the plurality of building network devices.
