Hierarchal data structure modification

A method comprising:

• storing a plurality of hierarchies of nodes in a data repository, wherein the nodes represent entities, and wherein a position of a first particular node in a particular hierarchy relative to a second particular node in the particular hierarchy represents a relationship of the first particular node relative to the second particular node;
• monitoring, by a hierarchal data interface engine in communication with at least one client device and the data repository, instructions corresponding to a first hierarchy of nodes of the plurality of hierarchies of nodes to detect instructions for modifying the first hierarchy of nodes;
• detecting, by the hierarchal data interface engine, a first instruction to perform a first modification to the first hierarchy of nodes corresponding to a respective first plurality of entities, each node among the first hierarchy of nodes including a set of node properties associated with a respective entity among the plurality of entities;
• and
• responsive to receiving the first instruction:
• (a) identifying, by a data set modification engine, a first rule to perform, based on the first modification to the first hierarchy of nodes, a second modification to a second hierarchy of nodes corresponding to a respective second plurality of entities, the second hierarchy of nodes being different than the first hierarchy of nodes, and the second modification being different than the first modification;
• (b) performing, by the data set modification engine, the first modification to the first hierarchy of nodes;
• and
• (c) applying, by the data set modification engine, the first rule to perform the second modification to the second hierarchy of nodes.

A system comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to perform:
• storing a plurality of hierarchies of nodes in a data repository, wherein the nodes represent entities, and wherein a position of a first particular node in a particular hierarchy relative to a second particular node in the particular hierarchy represents a relationship of the first particular node relative to the second particular node;
• monitoring, by a hierarchal data interface engine in communication with at least one client device and the data repository, instructions corresponding to a first hierarchy of nodes of the plurality of hierarchies of nodes to detect instructions for modifying the first hierarchy of nodes;
• detecting, by the hierarchal data interface engine, a first instruction to perform a first modification to the first hierarchy of nodes corresponding to a respective first plurality of entities, each node among the first hierarchy of nodes including a set of node properties associated with a respective entity among the plurality of entities;
• and
• responsive to receiving the first instruction:
• (a) identifying, by a data set modification engine, a first rule to perform, based on the first modification to the first hierarchy of nodes, a second modification to a second hierarchy of nodes corresponding to a respective second plurality of entities, the second hierarchy of nodes being different than the first hierarchy of nodes, and the second modification being different than the first modification;
• (b) performing, by the data set modification engine, the first modification to the first hierarchy of nodes;
• and
• (c) applying, by the data set modification engine, the first rule to perform the second modification to the second hierarchy of nodes.
