Key-value storage device and operating method thereof

A storage device comprising:

• a memory including a plurality of nonvolatile memory devices configured to store a plurality of key value data including first key value data, the first key value data including a first key, a first value identifying the first key, and first metadata, and the plurality of nonvolatile memory devices including a first nonvolatile memory device;
• and
• a controller configured to,
• receive an erase command from an external device,
• receive the plurality of key value data from the external device,
• generate a plurality of key age data including first key age data,
• write the first value, the first key and the first key age data in the first nonvolatile memory device,
• read the first key and the first key age data from the first nonvolatile memory device in response to the erase command, and
• erase the first value based on the first key and the first key age data, by
• transmitting a complete message to the external device prior to performing an erase operation,
• performing the erase operation to erase the first value after the complete message is transmitted by,
• determining whether a size of the first value written in the nonvolatile memory device is greater than a reference size, the reference size being based on a page size of the nonvolatile memory device,
• generating erase information data that includes page range data corresponding to information of pages storing the first value and the first key age data, in response to the size of the first value being greater than the reference size, and
• performing the erase operation on the pages storing the first value based on the erase information data, and
• changing the first key age data corresponding to the first value after the first value is erased such that the first key age data varies in response to completion of the erase operation of the first value.

A storage device comprising:

• a memory including a plurality of nonvolatile memory devices configured to store a plurality of key value data including first key value data, the first key value data including a first key and a first value, the first key identifying the first value, and the plurality of nonvolatile memory devices including a first nonvolatile memory device;
• and
• a controller configured to,
• receive an erase command from an external device,
• receive the plurality of key value data from the external device, and
• generate a plurality of key age data including first key age data,
• write the first value, the first key and the first key age data in the first nonvolatile memory device,
• read the first key and the first key age data from the first nonvolatile memory device in response to the erase command, and
• erase the first value based on the first key and the first key age data by,
• transmitting a complete message to the external device prior to performing an erase operation,
• performing the erase operation to erase the first value after the complete message is transmitted by,
• determining whether a size of the first value written in the nonvolatile memory device is greater than a reference size, the reference size being based on a page size of the nonvolatile memory device,
• generating erase information data that includes page range data corresponding to information of pages storing the first value and the first key age data, in response to the size of the first value being greater than the reference size, and
• performing the erase operation on the pages storing the first value based on the erase information data, and
• changing the first key age data corresponding to the first value after erasing the first value such that the first key age data varies in response to completion of the erase operation of the first value.
