Display device capable of interpupillary distance adjustment and diopter adjustment, and control method thereof

A control method executed by a display device that displays a video by a plurality of display units each including a display and a display optical system, the control method comprising:

• detecting an interpupillary distance of a user;
• performing adjustment corresponding to the interpupillary distance by changing an interval between the plurality of display units in accordance with a detection result;
• and
• performing diopter adjustment related to the display unit by changing an optical positional relationship between the display and the display optical system using a motor that can move in the direction in which the plurality of display units is lined up after performing the adjustment corresponding to the interpupillary distance.

A display device comprising:

• a plurality of display units each configured to include a display and a display optical system;
• a first adjustment unit configured to change an optical positional relationship between the display and the display optical system;
• a detector configured to detect an interpupillary distance of a user;
• a second adjustment unit configured to change an interval between the plurality of display units in accordance with a detection result of the detector;
• and
• one or more processors configured to execute the instructions, which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the display device to:
• control the first adjustment unit to perform diopter adjustment related to the display unit, and
• control the second adjustment unit to perform adjustment corresponding to the interpupillary distance, and
• wherein the diopter adjustment in the first adjustment unit is performed after the adjustment corresponding to the interpupillary distance in the second adjustment unit is performed, and
• wherein the adjustment in the second adjustment unit is performed after a diopter is changed in a direction of infinity in the first adjustment unit.

A control method executed by a display device that displays a video by a plurality of display units each including a display and a display optical system, the control method comprising:

• detecting an interpupillary distance of a user;
• performing adjustment corresponding to the interpupillary distance by changing an interval between the plurality of display units in accordance with a detection result after a diopter is changed in a direction of infinity;
• and
• performing diopter adjustment related to the display unit by changing an optical positional relationship between the display and the display optical system after performing the adjustment corresponding to the interpupillary distance.
