A method of treating a microbial infection in a patient comprising administering to a patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a 3-(4,5-Diphenyl-2-(pyridin-3-yl)-1H-imidazol-1-yl)-N,N-dimethylpropan-1-amine compound having the formula I:
