A method for alleviating a chronic liver disease, comprising administrating to a subject in need thereof a pharmaceutical composition containing rosoxacin, wherein the chronic liver disease is selected from the group consisting of a fatty liver disease, hepatitis, hepatic fibrosis, hepatic cirrhosis, and combinations thereof.
