A non-lethal paintball projectile comprising

• a body component made of a single piece and having a uniform continuous structure and surface forming outer surfaces of a front portion and a side wall of a body portion,
• a closed cavity in an interior volume of the front portion, and
• a fill in the closed cavity,
• wherein
• a length of the projectile is at least 15 mm,
• a length of the front portion is equal to or less than 9.7 mm,
• wherein the projectile further comprises:
• a middle component in an interior volume of the body component, the middle component being a disc-shaped middle wall inside the body component, placed between the front portion and the body portion and being supported by supports extending inward from an inner surface of the front portion, and the middle component further having a first side and a second side,
• wherein
• the first side of the middle component is facing the closed cavity,
• the projectile further comprises an open cavity in an interior volume of the body portion,
• the second side of the middle component is facing the open cavity, and
• the projectile further comprises a barrier layer on the second side of the middle component.
