Refrigerator

A refrigerator comprising:

• a storage chamber;
• a cooler configured to supply cold air;
• an ice maker including:
• a first tray configured to define a first portion of a cell;
• a second tray configured to define a second portion of the cell, the first and second portions being configured to form a space in which liquid introduced into the space is phase changed into ice;
• a liquid supply configured to supply the liquid into the space of the cell;
• a heater provided adjacent to at least one of the first tray or the second tray;
• and
• a driver configured to move the second tray relative to the first tray;
• and
• a controller configured to control d the driver such that:
• the heater is capable of being turned on in at least partial section during an ice making process, and
• an operation mode of the refrigerator includes a first mode and a second mode, and a heating amount of the heater in the first mode is capable of being different from the heating amount of the heater in the second mode,
• wherein the controller controls at least one of the amount of cold air supplied or the heating amount to vary according to a mass per unit height of liquid in the space of the cell.

A refrigerator comprising:

• a storage chamber;
• a cooler configured to supply cold air;
• an ice maker including:
• a first tray configured to define a first portion of a cell;
• a second tray configured to define a second portion of the cell, the first and second portions being configured to form a space in which liquid introduced into the space is phase changed into ice;
• a liquid supply configured to supply the liquid into the space of the cell;
• a heater provided adjacent to at least one of the first tray or the second tray;
• and
• a driver configured to move the second tray relative to the first tray;
• and
• a controller configured to control the heater and the driver such that:
• the heater is turned on in at least partial section during an ice making process, and
• an operation mode of the refrigerator includes a first mode and a second mode, and a heating amount of the heater in the first mode is different from a heating amount of the heater in the second mode,
• wherein:
• the first mode is a first transparent ice mode, and the second mode is a second transparent ice mode,
• the controller is configured to control at least one of the heater or the cooler to be capable of maintaining an ice making rate in the first transparent ice mode such that a transparency of ice in the first transparent ice mode is higher than a transparency of ice in the second transparent ice mode,
• the ice making rate of the ice making cell in the first transparent ice mode is less than an ice making rate of the ice making cell in the second transparent ice mode,
• the controller is configured such that, when the operation mode is switched from the second transparent ice mode to the first transparent ice mode, the heating amount of the heater is capable of being increased, and
• when the operation mode is switched from the first transparent ice mode to the second transparent ice mode, the heating amount of the heater is capable of being reduced or the heater is capable of being turned off.
