Abstract
A hydration system including a fluid reservoir, a fluid path in communication with the reservoir, and a magnetic quick connect interposed in the fluid path is disclosed. A fluid delivery system for a hydration system is also disclosed that includes a magnetic quick connect interposed in a fluid delivery path of the delivery system. The magnetic quick connect can also be used in a wide variety of fluid delivery systems. A kit for forming a fluid delivery system for a hydration system is also disclosed, as are various components of a hydration system.
Claims24
A hydration system comprising:
- a portable fluid reservoir,
- a plurality of components in fluid communication with one another and collectively defining a fluid delivery path for delivering fluid from the portable fluid reservoir to a user's mouth, the fluid delivery path in communication with the reservoir;
- a magnetic quick connect interposed in the fluid delivery path, wherein
- the plurality of components comprise a headset at a distal end of the fluid delivery path;
- the headset includes a support structure configured to support the headset on headgear adapted to be worn on a user's head;
- a proximal end of the headset comprises the magnetic quick connect;
- the fluid delivery path between the portable fluid reservoir and the magnetic quick comprises a hose that has a length, wall thickness, outer diameter and Shore Durometer hardness such that when a user is wearing the headset or when a user is wearing headgear to which the headset is mounted turns his or her head it does not cause the magnetic quick connect to disconnect;
- and
- the magnetic quick connect comprises a first coupling member and a second coupling member, and an axial pull force that is greater than 48 ounce-force and less than 128 ounce-force between the first coupling member and second coupling member is required to decouple the coupling members in the axial direction.
A hydration system comprising:
- a portable fluid reservoir;
- a plurality of components in fluid communication with one another and collectively defining a fluid delivery path for delivering fluid from the portable fluid reservoir to a user's mouth, the fluid delivery path in communication with the reservoir;
- a magnetic quick connect interposed in the fluid delivery path, wherein
- the plurality of components comprise a headset at a distal end of the fluid delivery path;
- the headset includes a support structure configured to support the headset on headgear adapted to be worn on a user's head;
- a proximal end of the headset comprises the magnetic quick connect;
- the fluid delivery path between the portable fluid reservoir and the magnetic quick comprises a hose that has a length, wall thickness, outer diameter and Shore Durometer hardness such that when a user is wearing the headset or when a user is wearing headgear to which the headset is mounted turns his or her head it does not cause the magnetic quick connect to disconnect;
- and
- the magnetic quick connect comprises a first coupling member and a second coupling member and the first coupling member and second coupling member may be decoupled by pivoting one coupling member relative to the other coupling member through the application of a torque that is in the range of about 16 ounce-inches and 72 ounce-inches to the pivoted coupling member.
A fluid delivery system for a hydration system, the fluid delivery system comprising:
- a plurality of components in fluid communication with one another and collectively defining a fluid delivery path, the fluid delivery path having a proximal end adapted to be attached to a fluid reservoir so as to establish fluid communication between the fluid delivery path and the fluid reservoir, the fluid delivery path having an exit port at a distal end for delivering liquid from the fluid reservoir to a user's mouth;
- a magnetic quick connect interposed in the fluid delivery path, wherein
- the plurality of components comprise a headset at a distal end of the fluid delivery path;
- the headset includes a support structure configured to support the headset on headgear adapted to be worn on a user's head;
- a proximal end of the headset comprises the magnetic quick connect;
- the magnetic quick connect comprises a male coupling member and a female coupling member;
- the fluid delivery path between the proximal end of the fluid delivery path and an upstream end of the magnetic quick connect comprises a hose;
- the hose is configured so that when the proximal end is connected to the fluid reservoir and a user is wearing the headset or when the fluid delivery system includes a headgear and a user is wearing the headgear to which the headset is mounted turns his or her head it does not cause the coupling members of the magnetic quick connect to uncouple front one another;
- and
- the magnetic quick connect comprises a first coupling member and a second coupling member, and an axial pull force that is greater than 48 ounce-force and less than 128 ounce-force between the first coupling member and second coupling member is required to decouple the coupling members in the axial direction.
A fluid delivery system for a hydration system, the fluid delivery system comprising:
- a plurality of components in fluid communication with one another and collectively defining a fluid delivery path, the fluid delivery path having a proximal end adapted to be attached to a fluid reservoir so as to establish fluid communication between the fluid delivery path and the fluid reservoir, the fluid delivery path having an exit port at a distal end for delivering liquid from the fluid reservoir to a user's mouth;
- a magnetic quick connect interposed in the fluid delivery path, wherein
- the plurality of components comprise a headset at a distal end of the fluid delivery path;
- the headset includes a support structure configured to support the headset on headgear adapted to be worn on a user's head;
- a proximal end of the headset comprises the magnetic quick connect;
- the magnetic quick connect comprises a male coupling member and a female coupling member;
- the fluid delivery path between the proximal end of the fluid delivery path and an upstream end of the magnetic quick connect comprises a hose;
- the hose is configured so that when the proximal end is connected to the fluid reservoir and a user is wearing the headset or when the fluid delivery system includes a headgear and a user is wearing the headgear to which the headset is mounted turns his or her head it does not cause the coupling members of the magnetic quick connect to uncouple front one another;
- and
- the magnetic quick connect comprises a first coupling member and a second coupling member and the first coupling member and second coupling member may be decoupled by pivoting one coupling member relative to the other coupling member through the application of a torque that is in the range of about 16 ounce-inches to 72 ounce-inches to the pivoted coupling member.
