Systems and methods for estimating locations of signal shadowing obstructions and signal reflectors in a wireless communications network

A User Equipment (UE) for use in a wireless communication network, the UE comprising:

• a transmitter and a receiver;
• a processor in communication with the transmitter and receiver;
• and
• a processor-readable memory in communication with the processor and storing processor-executable instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to perform a method comprising:
• in response to receiving a reference signal at the receiver from a neighboring node via a non-line-of-sight (NLoS) transmission, causing the transmitter to transmit an identification of the neighboring node to network equipment implementing the wireless communication network to facilitate estimating locations of obstacles to signal transmission based on estimates of a location of the UE and a location of the neighboring node,
• wherein the identification of the neighboring node is not transmitted in response to receiving the reference signal at the receiver from the neighboring node via a line-of-sight (LoS) transmission.
