Method and apparatus for execution of applications in a cloud system

A processor comprising:

• one or more circuits of a cloud server to:
• receive login information from a client device in association with a selection, by a user of a file server, of a file in a user interface provided using the file server, wherein data corresponding to the file is transmitted by the file server to the client device to cause a display of a graphical representation of the file using the user interface, and the file server is to, in response to the selection of the file, hand-off the user to the cloud server and re-direct the user to an interface that includes a display of a video stream and is operated by the cloud server,
• retrieve the file from the file server using the login information in response to the selection of the file, and
• stream output the video stream for the display in the interface on the client device, the video stream generated from executing an application using the file.

A system comprising:

• one or more processing units to execute operations comprising:
• receiving, by a cloud server, an identifier of a file based on a selection, by a user of a file server, of the file from a user interface on a client device, wherein data corresponding to the file is transmitted by the file server to cause a display of a graphical representation of the file using the user interface, and the file server is to, in response to the selection of the file, hand-off the user to the cloud server and re-direct the user to an interface that includes a display of a video stream and is operated by the cloud server;
• accessing, by the cloud server, the file on the file server using the identifier of the file;
• and
• streaming, by the cloud server, the video stream for the display in the interface on the client device, the video stream corresponding to results from executing an application using the file accessed on the file server.
