A storage device, comprising a Central Processing Unit (CPU), a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) port control chip, an SAS port expansion chip and a hard disk drive system, wherein the hard disk drive system comprises two or more hard disk drives, and the SAS port expansion chip is configured to:
- latching the initialization states of all the hard disk drives after all hard disk drives are powered on;
- divide all hard disk drives into two or more hard drive groups, each hard drive group comprising more than one hard disk drive;
- and
- sequentially performing link initialization negotiation on each hard drive group by using a port protocol;
- and in an Out-Of-Band (OOB) negotiation process of the link initialization negotiation, by setting the state of a Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) application layer power state machine, controlling a motor of each hard disk drive in the hard drive group to enter a spinning state.
