Support for head-mountable device

A head-mountable device comprising:

• a frame;
• a display element supported by the frame;
• arms being rigid and extending from the frame;
• a strap having a first end and second end each coupled to a corresponding one of the arms, the strap being stretchable and having a first surface area to engage a head;
• and
• a deployable support portion moveably coupled to the strap, the support portion overlapping one of the arms and a portion of the strap, the support portion comprising an upper portion and a lower portion, the upper portion and the lower portion being moveable to extend in opposite directions away from each other and away from the arms and the strap upon deployment from a retracted configuration to a deployed configuration to provide an additional surface area to engage the head.

A head-mountable device comprising:

• an HMD module comprising:
• a frame;
• and
• a display element supported by the frame;
• and
• an HMD module attachment element on an inner side of the frame;
• a light seal module comprising a chassis, a cover extending about the chassis, and a light seal module attachment element on an outer side of the chassis, the light seal module attachment element being configured to be releasably coupled to the HMD module with the light seal module attachment element, the light seal module configured to engage and conform to a face, support the head-mountable device, and define an interior space through which light can pass to provide a view of the display element;
• a band having two ends, each of the two ends being coupled to the frame, the band extending away from the frame to surround the light seal module, the band being adjustable to adjust a tightness of the band around a head;
• and
• a support element having a first end slidably coupled to the light seal module and a second end configured to extend away from the light seal module and engage a forehead when the support element slides with respect to the light seal module, wherein the support element is configured to engage the forehead to support the frame.
