Optical measurement systems and processes with fixation target having Bokeh compensation

A method, comprising:

• providing an arrangement comprising:
• a wavefront aberrometer configured to measure a refraction of an eye;
• at least one processor;
• a video display device;
• and
• an optical system disposed in an optical path between the video display device and the eye;
• the video display device presenting a fixation target to the eye to cause the eye to accommodate during a process of measuring the refraction of the eye;
• moving the video display device with respect to the eye to a first position where the fixation target draws a focus of the eye to near its far point;
• moving the video display device with respect to the eye to a second position where the video display device is moved away from the eye by an additional amount;
• and
• dynamically changing the fixation target on the video display device to compensate for Bokeh of the fixation target as the video display device is moved further away from the eye by the additional amount,
• wherein the fixation target includes at least two lines intersecting at at least one intersection, and the step of dynamically changing the fixation target includes:
• either:
• dynamically reducing a thickness of each of the lines as the video display device is moved further away from the eye,
• or:
• dynamically increasing a taper of each of the lines down to the intersection as the video display device is moved further away from the eye,
• or:
• dynamically decreasing an intensity of the lines within and near the intersection as the video display device is moved further away from the eye.

A system, comprising:

• at least one processor;
• a first movable stage, wherein the first movable stage is movable under control of the at least one processor with respect to an eye of a subject;
• a video display device configured to move with the first movable stage;
• and
• an optical system disposed in an optical path between the video display device and the eye,
• wherein the video display device is configured to play a movie of a fixation target to the eye to cause the eye to accommodate, and wherein the movie dynamically changes an appearance of the fixation target on the video display device to compensate for Bokeh of the fixation target as the first movable stage moves the video display device from a first position, where the fixation target draws a focus of the eye to near its far point, to a second position further away from the eye than the first position, wherein the fixation target includes at least two lines intersecting at at least one intersection, and wherein the movie dynamically changes the appearance of the fixation target by:
• either:
• dynamically reducing a thickness of each of the lines as the video display device is moved further away from the eye,
• or:
• dynamically increasing a taper of each of the lines down to the intersection as the video display device is moved further away from the eye,
• or:
• dynamically decreasing an intensity of the lines within and near the intersection as the video display device is moved further away from the eye.
