Abstract
An aerosol-generating device for heating an aerosol-forming substrate is provided, the aerosol-generating device including: a heating element configured to heat the aerosol-forming substrate when the aerosol-forming substrate is received by the aerosol-generating device, the heating element including a plurality of metallic nanoparticles configured to receive light and to generate heat by surface plasmon resonance.

An aerosol-generating device, comprising:
- a heating element
- comprising a plurality of metallic nanoparticles configured to receive light and to generate heat by surface plasmon resonance,
- wherein the heating element is configured to heat an aerosol-forming substrate.
