Abstract
A vehicle theft-prevention system can include a mobile application that can determine a location of the mobile device. One or more computing devices can be in communication with the mobile application via a network. The mobile application and the at least one computing device configured to determine that the location of the mobile device has moved outside of a geofence associated with a vehicle theft-prevention apparatus. The mobile application and the at least one computing device can cause the vehicle theft-prevention apparatus to change from an unarmed mode to an armed mode.
Claims20
A vehicle theft-prevention apparatus, comprising:
- a body comprising a first portion and a second portion, the first portion configured to rotate about the second portion to affix the body into a cup holder of a vehicle;
- a global positioning system (GPS) circuit;
- a sensor;
- and
- at least one computing device in communication with the sensor and the GPS circuit, the at least one computing device configured to:
- iteratively determine a current location of a vehicle based on the GPS circuit;
- determine that the current location of the GPS circuit has moved outside of a geofence associated with the vehicle theft-prevention apparatus;
- and
- generate a warning in response to the current location moving outside of the geofence.
A vehicle theft-prevention system, comprising:
- a vehicle theft-prevention apparatus comprising a first portion and a second portion, the first portion configured to rotate about the second portion to affix the body into a cup holder of a vehicle;
- a mobile application that, when executed by a mobile device, causes the mobile device to determine a location of the mobile device;
- and
- at least one computing device in communication with the mobile application via a network, wherein the mobile application and the at least one computing device are configured to:
- determine that the location of the mobile device has moved outside of a geofence associated with the vehicle theft-prevention apparatus;
- and
- cause the vehicle theft-prevention apparatus to change from an unarmed mode to an armed mode.
A method, comprising:
- affixing a security device into a cup holder of a vehicle by rotating a first portion of the security device about a second portion of the security device;
- generating, via at least one computing device, a geofence associated with the security device;
- monitoring, via the at least one computing device, a location associated with the security device;
- determining, via the at least one computing device, that the location associated with the security device meets or exceeds a threshold of the geofence;
- and
- performing, via the at least one computing device, a command in response to the location associated with the security device meeting or exceeding the threshold of the geofence.
