Claims9
A process for producing non-functionalized nanosheets or doped nanosheets of a bulk crystalline material having a layered structure, the process comprising providing a dry ball milling apparatus;
- and using the dry ball milling apparatus to ball mill the bulk crystalline material in a reactive gas selected from ammonia and a hydrocarbon, wherein the non-functionalized nanosheets or doped nanosheets (i) are formed in the ball milling apparatus during ball milling by adjusting one or more dry ball milling parameters of the dry ball milling apparatus selected from milling time, milling speed, milling ball size and milling ball-to-bulk crystalline material weight ratio, and (ii) have a thickness of less than 10 nm.
