A non-transitory, computer-readable recording medium storing a computer program, the computer program, which when executed by a computer, causes the computer to perform an event participation management method, comprising:
- receiving, via a content provision server, event data for one or more scheduled events, each of which are an opportunity for a registered user, among a plurality of users, to participate in on-line interactive gameplay through an event management server during a scheduled duration of time;
- executing a videogame, via an information processing device of a given user among the plurality of users, using the event data for a given event from among the one or more scheduled events provided by the content provision server for a set duration;
- storing the event data and providing services, via an event management server, related to participation in the one or more events to the information processing device, the event management server carrying out actions, including:
- storing event-related information concerning the one or more events in a memory;
- acquiring a user request from the given user of the information processing device that calls for an action to display event-related information regarding one or more upcoming scheduled events to the given user;
- extracting events that match the details of the user request from among the event data;
- preparing formatted event data that represents the events in a given format;
- transmitting the formatted event data to the information processing device;
- acquiring details of a user registration request from the information processing device that calls for an action to register the given user as the registered user for participation in a selected one of the scheduled events,
- preparing registration information that correlates the registered user with the event, and stores the registration information in a storage device,
- extracting the matching events on the basis of user information that includes the registration information,
- transmitting setup data to the information processing device that is specific to the selected one of the scheduled events, where the setup data contains action data that causes the information processing device to:
- (a) establish a time monitoring function and issue a notice to the registered user via at least display on the information processing device, substantially prior to a start date and time of the selected one of the scheduled events, that warns the registered user that the date and time of the selected one of the scheduled events is approaching,
- (b) automatically activate the information processing device out of a sleep mode substantially at the start date and time of the selected one of the scheduled events, when the information processing device is in the sleep mode at such date and time,
- (c) activate a game application for the videogame necessary to facilitate the on-line interactive gameplay for, and at the start date and time of, the selected one of the scheduled events, such that:
- (d) when the information processing device is in an automated mode of operation, the game application is automatically started at the start date and time of the selected one of the scheduled events, and
- (e) when the information processing device is not in an automated mode of operation, the game application is permitted to start only when the registered user provides a predetermined user operation at the start date and time of the selected one of the scheduled events, and
- wherein at least one of:
- (i) when a user who is using the information processing device is different from the registered user for participation in the event, the information processing device displays, on a connected display device, an image that asks whether it is acceptable to start the information processing task to be performed using the event data at the given time relative to the start time of the event, and when an input indicating that it is acceptable to do so is made, the information processing device causes the start the information processing task;
- (ii) when the information processing task being run by the information processing device is different from that to be performed using the event data, the information processing device displays, on the connected display device, an image that asks whether it is acceptable to start the information processing task to be performed using the event data at the given time relative to the start time of the event, and when an input indicating that it is acceptable to do so is made, the information processing device causes the start the information processing task;
- and
- (iii) when the registered user for participation in the event is not logged into the information processing device, the information processing device displays, on the connected display device, an authentication screen for login at the given time, and when the authentication is successful, the information processing device causes the start the information processing task to be performed using the event data.
