Secure, cloud-based data collection tool

One or more non-transitory computer-readable storage media storing instructions which, when processed by one or more processors, cause:

• receiving, at a deployment engine, a customization specification from a deployment server;
• wherein the customization specification is generated by the deployment server based on a request for generating a customized collector for collecting data from one or more target computer resources;
• based on, at least in part, the customization specification, generating, by the deployment engine, the customized collector for collecting the data from the one or more target computer resources;
• storing the customized collector in a storage;
• generating a unique deployment key for downloading the customized collector from the storage and transmitting the unique deployment key to a custodian;
• and
• separately from transmitting, to the custodian, the unique deployment key for downloading the customized collector from the storage, transmitting, to the custodian, a notification that the customized collector is available from the storage.

A computer-implemented, deployment system for generating secure customized collector, the computer-implemented, deployment system comprising:

• one or more hardware processors;
• a deployment engine comprising one or more memory units for storing computer instructions which, when processed by the one or more hardware processors, cause the one or more hardware processors to perform:
• receiving, at the deployment engine, a customization specification from a deployment server;
• wherein the customization specification is generated by the deployment server based on a request for generating a customized collector for collecting data from one or more target computer resources;
• based on, at least in part, the customization specification, generating, by the deployment engine, the customized collector for collecting the data from the one or more target computer resources;
• storing the customized collector in a storage;
• generating a unique deployment key for downloading the customized collector from the storage and transmitting the unique deployment key to a custodian;
• and
• separately from transmitting, to the custodian, the unique deployment key for downloading the customized collector from the storage, transmitting, to the custodian, a notification that the customized collector is available from the storage.
